Academic Governance

Chester College of Higher Education - CCHE

Chester College of Higher Education (CCHE) operates under a formally structured Academic Governance framework that ensures strategic oversight, academic integrity, and regulatory alignment across all programmes.

The Academic Board serves as the principal academic authority of the institution and is responsible for:

  • Academic strategy and standards oversight
  • Programme approval, modification and review
  • Curriculum integrity and alignment with qualification frameworks
  • Oversight of learner progression and academic performance
  • Institutional academic risk management

Supporting this structure, the Academic Quality Enhancement Committee (AQEC) monitors the implementation of assessment strategies, quality monitoring outcomes, and enhancement initiatives. Examination Boards oversee assessment decisions and progression outcomes to ensure fairness, consistency, and transparency.

Academic roles and responsibilities are clearly defined within the institutional structure, including oversight by the Head of Academic Affairs, Programme Leaders, and designated Internal Quality Assurers. All academic decisions are documented, auditable, and subject to formal review mechanisms.

Through structured governance arrangements and clearly defined accountability, CCHE safeguards academic standards in line with awarding body requirements and international higher education expectations.
